5 TIPS TO HELP YOU Celebrate Women’s Day

  • Do you find yourself juggling with everything you need to get done?
  • Do you have a list of jobs that you never seem to get through and that carries into the next day?
  • Do you feel a sense of failure, helplessness or frustration?

All too often I find the women I work with are very hard on themselves. With everyday pressures women often leave their own needs to one side. The UN calls INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY a day when women are recognised for their achievements. There are many events taking place around the world today to celebrate just that.

So why not celebrate closer to home – starting with yourself! Click HERE to claim your SPECIAL OFFER of £300 off Treatments (VALID ON BOOKINGS MADE 8TH – 15TH MARCH)

5 Tips to help you appreciate and celebrate you…

1. OWN UP TO YOUR ACHIEVEMENTS!

Think of THREE THINGS that you have achieved in the past week – something that has taken will power or determination or effort to do – perhaps something you would praise a friend or your child for doing. This can be something like

* Making a difficult phonecall
* Helping a friend with something
* Taking time out for you
* Sorting a bill/MOT or car service
* Having a laugh with friends or family.

Now RECOGNISE the fact that you did it – think about how good it felt when you achieved it, think about how you would praise your friend for doing the same thing and then acknowledge what this says about you ie I am organised, I am a good mum, I am good at my job.

All too often we negate or minimise the small things that we achieve every day. We put ourselves down for not having ticked everything off the list or not having achieved something really big. By acknowledging all these little things you will start to appreciate the wonderful person you really are.

2. ALLOW YOURSELF TO BE HUMAN

Acknowledge your emotions. If you’re angry, upset or frustrated – allow yourself to feel your emotions. From a young age we’re taught to suppress these feelings. Suppressing emotions can cause frustration, stress and resentment.

Ask yourself ‘what is this anger trying to show me, what is missing that I can address?’ Perhaps you need more ‘me time’ or to address an issue with a loved one. By addressing it you can free up space for you to read/relax/have a bath or speak about something that has been bothering you.

You can then start to become familiar with and address triggers before they get out of control.

3. TREAT YOURSELF

Develop habits to treat yourself in a small way. Do you find yourself running around trying to get everything done, then flopping on the sofa exhausted in the evening? Think of something that would make you feel good. Then prepare for it during the day so you have something to look forward to at the end of the day.

* Create a sanctuary in your bedroom. Buy a book or magazine and resolve to go to bed early to indulge in a good read. Forget about the dishwasher or ironing for one night and relish that ‘me time’.

* Prepare for an indulgent soak and commit to leaving jobs to enjoy that well earned bath. Scented candles and an aromatherapy bath oil will all add to that sense of luxury and indulgence.

* Good quality sleep is a must for proper functioning. Sleep deprivation goes hand in hand with anxiety. If you find you have thoughts going round and round in your head before going to sleep –

  • Turn off computers and mobile phones at least an hour before going to bed
  • Use an eye mask or sprinkle lavender on your pillow
  • Practise some self hypnosis or relaxation techniques such as total body relaxation

 4. BE PRESENT

Resolve to be present as much as possible. Anxiety and worry is often caused by worrying about a future event and is accompanied by feelings of being out of control. It’s like having a crystal ball and anticipating a dark and gloomy outcome.

Focus on the present moment, take some deep breaths and recognise all the elements of your life where you are in control.  Once you regain or feel more in control you stop attempting to control events in a negative manner.

5. SPEND TIME WITH FRIENDS

Remember your friends are your friends for a reason – you’re probably a good friend to them! So don’t be afraid to call a friend and tell them how you’re feeling. You will find that verbalising a worry or concern minimises its impact. Time spent laughing or reminiscing with friends is time well spent – and a great tonic for us women!

Anxiety & Friday 13th

Anxiety affects many people and some will feel this more than others on days like Friday 13th.

Fear of the number 13 is known as triskadekaphobia – try saying that out loud! People who are superstitious or who feel that external factors influence them are more likely to suffer with this fear. If you are one of those people you may find yourself

  • waiting for something bad to happen or go wrong
  • believing bad luck comes in ‘threes’
  • focussing on negative outcomes

Why leave things to luck, fate or chance when YOU can make change happen?

Anything that doesn’t benefit you or enhance your life is not worth having! And you don’t have to have this or any other limiting belief.

Change is possible with any aspect of your life, and surprisingly quickly, in fact usually with just 6 sessions of mind training.

With my help you will learn how to –

  • Take back control of your thoughts and your life
  • Break down limiting beliefs that are holding you back
  • Create a success mindset to unlock your potential to achieve

Make that call today

If you are ready to free yourself from anxiety, a debilitating fear or phobia or just want more confidence –

Call me today for a complimentary chat about how to move forward and create change.  When you have 20 minutes or so to spare, make yourself a cuppa, put your feet up and give me a call – you have nothing to lose and lots to gain.

Find out more about mind training, limiting beliefs and how to rid yourself of a fear or phobia – call me on 01452 750646 or 07765 182127 or email Claire@MrsMindset.co.uk

How to control the urge to smoke – 5 Easy Tips

Did you make grand plans to kick the habit on New Year’s Day only to find that here you are, months later still smoking? If you’ve tried to quit smoking before, then you’ll know just how hard it can be.

It doesn’t make any difference if you’re a 3 ciggies in the evening kind of smoker or if you’re a 20 a day smoker. As a hypnotherapist regularly treating smokers I find it is the same beliefs that underpin the reason why you do it. It’s those beliefs that I uncover during my stop smoking sessions at my Gloucester practice. This revealing and relabelling of your beliefs is just one of the reasons behind the success of my stop smoking session.

Before you get started –

Choose the right day
Whether you are choosing to go it alone or use stop smoking hypnosis – choose a day that’s right for you. Try to avoid National No Smoking days! Strange though that may sound, you actually put more pressure on yourself to stop. You may find yourself thinking about smoking all day or focussing on what you believe you’re missing out on – this will make you want to smoke even more. When you are ready you can calmly put your plan to quit into action.

Cold turkey
Coming up to your chosen day, contrary to common advice, don’t cut down. By cutting down you make the few cigarettes you allow yourself to have even more precious. We always get what we focus on and what you find yourself focussing on is the next cigarette. So puff away until the chosen day. Then look forward with excitement to being free and in control.

Prepare to celebrate
Remember you are not physically addicted. If you were addicted you wouldn’t be able to function without nicotine in your system. Get excited about the freedom you are creating for yourself. Remind yourself of the reasons why you want to stop smoking. Grab your free copy of my top tips to get you off to a positive start http://www.mrsmindset.co.uk/15-sos-mind-programming-tools/

5 tips to help you quit smoking and control any urges

Now let’s look at 5 tips that you can start to put into action immediately to help you control any urges to smoke.

  1. Ditch excuses

Ok so you think you love smoking and enjoy it? If you had a lovely car, which every time you drove it, emitted poisonous gases into the car, would you still want to drive that lovely car? Do you love and enjoy that car so much that you will continue to drive it every day for the rest of your (short) life? No you would get rid and find a different car. Challenge yourself about why you smoked. Remind yourself that you are now clearing all those toxic fumes from your body.

2. Break the links

Think about when and where you would normally smoke. Think of these times and places as links in a chain of an old habit. If you normally have a puff with your cuppa in the morning, have a glass of juice instead. Sit in a different chair than you usually do. Just for a few days, change your routine slightly. If you usually smoke with a group of colleagues after lunch, go and find someone else to talk to. If you normally have a cigarette after your evening meal, go and put the TV on or clear the dishes away as soon as you’ve finished eating.

3. Distract yourself

Distract yourself if you feel an urge for a cigarette. Go for a walk or get out into the garden, sort out your DVDs, watch a film or have a relaxing bath. In the evenings make a cup of herbal tea and prepare snacks such as carrot sticks. When you are engrossed in doing something else you will find yourself thinking less and less about smoking.

4. Train your inner voice

You know that voice that says ‘go on its only one and you’ve had a really hard day’. Tell it that you’re in charge now and you are deciding what to do with your health. Remind yourself of all of the reasons why you wanted to stop in the first place.

Now think about how proud you are having stopped something you thought would be difficult. Think of how easy and smooth your breathing has become. Imagine your body cleansing itself – not withdrawing as that is creating a belief that you are missing something – cleansing itself every minute of every day.

5. Breath Deep & Chemical Free

Take deep breaths mimicking the smoking action. I call this my 4-6-8 technique. Take a nice deep breath in for the count of 4, hold it for a count of 6 and release very slowly for the count of 8. Three to five of these in a row will start to induce relaxation, the same relaxation you think you get when you smoke – without all the chemicals of course! Click here to see what happens to your body in the first year of stopping smoking.

Some extra tips

  • If you start to feel frustrated or irritated remember it’s simply your body’s reaction to the rapidly disappearing chemicals. Distract yourself, they will soon disappear.
  • If you’re worried about gaining weight then a good way to start is to ensure you have regular meals and eat them in the same place each day. Chew each mouthful slowly and consciously with no distractions such as TV or reading. Many of my clients worry about weight gain if they stop smoking – if that is a concern I simply add these suggestions into the hypnotherapy part of the session.
  • Reward yourself – treat yourself to a magazine subscription, spa day or lunch with friends.
  • If you need help – then don’t be ashamed to pick up the phone and call someone. Call a friend who knows how much this means to you. Find a stop smoking hypnotherapist to help you get you off to a quick start. Hypnotherapy is one of the most popular and best ways to stop smoking. Hundreds of people have already consulted me in my Gloucester practice for help with quitting smoking – and they stop smoking in just one session. Choosing a hypnosis session to help you become a non-smoker will get you off to a great start and make this life changing decision easy, painless and enjoyable!

For free advice give me a call for a chat. I look forward to helping you.

Stop Smoking Hypnosis – does it work?

stop smoking hypnosis

stop smoking hypnosis

Hypnosis is one of the most commonly used tools to help with stop smoking. It’s fast, fun and enjoyable.  Hundreds of thousands of smokers use stop smoking hypnosis to ensure their success with giving up smoking.

The beauty of hypnosis is that sessions can take place either face to face or equally successfully using Skype. These people used to smoke too – now they don’t!

So what happens during a stop smoking hypnosis session?

Firstly we work with the conscious mind. Because your stop smoking hypnosis session is individual to you, it’s important to find out just what smoking does for you! We uncover the beliefs about your ability to quit smoking so we can pave the way for success. Mind demonstrations follow to prepare for the next part of your stop smoking session.

During this part of the stop smoking session, you are deeply relaxed using hypnosis. This relaxation is a little like day dreaming, ie you’re not asleep neither are you completely awake. During this lovely relaxed state, suggestions are more easily accepted into your subconscious mind. Stop smoking hypnosis helps you to reprogramme your mind to that of a non smoker.

Positive suggestions about your new life as a non smoker are given to you. Suggestions during a typical stop smoking hypnosis session may include ‘you are now a happy non smoker, smoking was a dangerous habit that you no longer need’. Obviously your suggestions are unique to you so we use suggestions gleaned from the first part of your session.

Why is stop smoking hypnosis so successful

We both know that you want to be healthy, smell nice and live a happy life free of horrible illnesses. You don’t want to continue doing something which will lead to cancer or amputation. We know you want to be in control of your life and choose how to spend your time and your money.

So when you smoke there is a conflict – your thoughts and actions contradict what you consciously want – and you are allowing nicotine to control you. Hypnotherapy is a natural and fast way to change your thoughts and actions. Stop smoking hypnosis helps you bridge the gap with the conflict so you think and act like a non smoker.

What can I do to stop smoking

Firstly decide on a day and commit to stop smoking on that date. Tell your friends and family. Prepare some healthy foods that you can reach for when you’re feeling bored such as grapes and carrot sticks. Get some magazines, books and dvds to distract you during the evening. Plan some treats such as the cinema, meals with friends and fun days out. If you think you need help to stop smoking then do some research on interventions such as stop smoking hypnosis.

Mental Health matters…

6.jpgThis week is mental health awareness week, a condition that affects most families to some degree. We all know someone who suffers with anxiety, panic attacks or depression. At the extreme end a person may experience a feeling of helplessness, a feeling of being disconnected from others or may even consider suicide.

With experience of mental ill health in my own family, I am only too aware of the impact both on the individual and their families.

Remember you are not alone and help is available – speak to your friends if you are worried about yourself or a family member, your doctor can also point you in the right direction for help.

In my work as an anxiety management consultant I help people on a daily basis to overcome trauma, anxiety and panic attacks. Using mind management techniques it is possible to conquer fears and feel in control of life

Well being tips

These are just a few ways in which we can help our own mental health.

  • Have an early night! – yes sleep deprivation can lead to over tiredness and an inability to think properly
  • Take some time to get outside – walking gets you into the fresh air, even better if you can do so in the countryside
  • Take time out – just a few minutes of mindfulness will help you to focus on the present moment – it can be as simple as watching some ants, or listening to the birds or the wind rustling in the trees
  • Get perspective – stand back from your problems for a few moments as if you’re viewing them from outside of yourself – is the house going to fall down? Is anyone going to lose their job/die?
  • Make room in your life for laughter – watch a DVD or a funny programme – Mrs Brown always does it for me! Spend some time with a friend and have a good laugh

To mark Mental Health Awareness Week 11th – 17th May 2015 I am offering an Earlybird of £145 off my Anxiety Management Programme. This highly successful programme is usually £595 – for bookings made before 31st May the fee is only £450!

Have a great week!
