Some facts and figures-

In the UK almost a quarter of adults and almost a sixth of children under the age of 11 are obese. A government paper published in October 2007 predicted that if no action is taken, by 2050 we could face an obesity epidemic with 60% of men, 50% of women and 25% of children being obese. Obesity is responsible for 9000 premature deaths each year in England and reduces life expectancy by an average of 9 years.

As well as the cost to the economy and to the already financially stretched NHS there are also the psychological and social consequences. Obese people can encounter prejudice, rejection and discrimination which can lead to depression and low self esteem. More recent research shows that the credit crunch can actually lead to an increased risk of being overweight. Debt and financial worries can contribute to bad eating habits such as comfort eating and emotional eating.

Research by the University of Gloucestershire shows that half of the adult population in the county do no sport or exercise, leading to risks of not only developing obesity but some of the many other related health conditions. By planting positive suggestions hypnotherapy can encourage people to exercise and to even look forward to participating in sport or perhaps building gentle exercise such as walking into their daily routine.

What most overweight people overlook is how they feel about themselves – overeating and other eating disorders are actually more to do with our emotions than the food itself. Not dealing with the underlying emotions explains why those who take the invasive and risky approach of surgery by way of gastric bands/bypasses lose little if any weight. Likewise fad and trendy diets don’t help much when you want to manage your weight for life not just for the life of the current trend.

Pure Hypnoanalysis (Analytical Hypnotherapy) for weight control finds the reason why you feel the need or urge to overeat.

Together we will find and remove the CAUSE in just a few sessions. Now I understand that this might sound complicated, impossible even, but it is incredibly simple. By removing the cause of the symptom, the symptom can no longer exist; and you will find that you will only eat when hungry as opposed to feeling a compulsion to eat. I am merely a tool in this process, providing a safe, compassionate and non judgemental place with a gentle and caring approach at all times.
